The tour from Lhasa to Mt. Deatil Itinerary for Lhasa to Mt. Kailash - Sacred Trip to Tibet - 20 Days Trip
Day 01: Arriving in Lhasa (3650m/11,972ft).

Upon arrival at Gonggor airport or rail station we’ll be met by our local Tibetan guide and assist you to transfer to hotel in Lhasa. On arriving in Lhasa it’s time to check in at the hotel and group meeting at hotel and we will inform you all about the program and the remainder of today is at leisure to relax and acclimatize at Lhasa. We’ll stay in standard hotel in Lhasa on twin sharing accommodation.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Norbulinka, Sera and Jokhang Temple.
After acclimatize yesterday today we’ll take time to explore the heart of Tibet, the holy and known as Forbidden City of Lhasa. Explore Norbulinka Palace, in Tibetan ‘beautiful gardens’ and the summer palace home for the 7th to the 14th Dalai Lama. At serene Sera Monastery, enjoy watching the monks animatedly debating the Buddhist scriptures and see the wonderful collection of ancient murals and statues as well as scriptures written in gold powder, wonderful scroll paintings, tapestries and Thangka that can be seen throughout. Join the medieval bustle of pilgrims, worshippers, performers and traders in and around Jokhang Temple, the most revered religious structure in Tibet. Follow the pilgrimage circuit along the ancient streets of the old town around Barkhor Bazaar and return back to same hotel for overnight.

Day 03: Sightseeing in Potala palace and Dreprung Monastery.
Today, we’ll take time to explore the heart of Tibet, the holy and forbidden city of Lhasa. Explore the vast halls and chapels of impressive Potala Palace, former home of the Dalai Lamas and an awe inspiring lanadmark that dominates the skyline over Lhasa. After visit Potala palace enjoy the solemnity of holy Dreprung Monastery, once the largest monastery in the world and now the largest and richest monastery in Tibet, founded in 1416 and a place of study for many of the most learned lamas and enjoy the day and return back to hotel for overnight.

Day 04: Lhasa to Shigatse (3,900m/12,792ft).
We will commence our overland journey towards the City of Shigatse, which is second largest city of Tibet and seat of the Panchen Lama (ranking close to the Dalai Lama), Shigatse. En route we’ll visit Tashilumpo monastery, the seat of the Panchen Lama and one of the most important monasteries in Tibet. Tashilumpo lies at the foot of Drolmari, or Tara's Mountain, on the western side of Shigatse. It is one of Tibet's most influential monasteries, founded in 1477 by Gendun Drubpa, the first Dalai Lama. Inside the monastery, the Maitreya Chapel is the tallest building and houses the world’s largest brass statue of Buddha at 26.2 meters (86 feet) high, seated on a 3.8 meter (12 foot) high lotus throne made of gold, brass and precious gems. The hotel in Shigatse is quite large and comfortable.

Day 05: Drive to Sang-Sang (4,250m/13.940ft).
We travel from Shigatse to Sang-Sang via Lhatse town. This is a long day trip, an easy 3 hours smooth drive to Lhatse, from here our route diverts from the main Lhasa-Kathmandu highway, the drive continues on the dirt road with interesting views of the rural life along the way and crossing few high passes of nearly 5000m till we make a final stop for the day at Sang-Sang, a growing town where we stay at tented camp.

Day 06: Drive to Saga (4,440m/14,563ft).
Today, our drive continues on the wild windswept terrain passing through few villages and farm fields, and then crossing high numerous pass with brief stop en-route to stretch our legs and for lunch then reaching to the check post near Saga after 6 hours drive. After completion of the passport and visa formalities, half hour drive brings us to Saga for the overnight camp. Saga a small village few years back, at present it's a growing town with almost modern facilities. Our camp is made just before or after the village by the bank of the fresh running stream.

Day 07: Drive to Paryang (4,550m/14,924ft).
After breakfast, prepare for the next long drive to Paryang, just an hour leaving Saga campsite the road meanders to the high pass of near 5000m. The road descends on the large valley, with great views of the snow capped peaks in the distance on the Nepal border side. Our drive continues through some sandy portion just few hours before Paryang. This is a sleepy village on this wind blown region with almost 20 houses and we overnight at camp here.

Day 08: Drive to Mansarovar (4,550/14,924ft).
Today we drive although it’s a long drive, but with interesting views along the way the ride continues on this flat Tibetan plateau, then reaching to the high pass of Mayum-la 5,150m, after the downhill drive coming to Mayum Tsho (lake), the view of the lake will be constant for few hours, then as the drive gets further west coming to Lake Mansarovar for the overnight camp.

Day 09: Rest Day at Mansarovar.
A well earned rest day from the few days of long drive, depending upon the camping site at Lake Mansarovar, usually coming from Paryang we camp on the north-east side of the lake on the grassy field with great views of the Lake and the peak of Gurla Mandata. On this day we will take a drive to the east coast of the lake to visit the Chui Gompa and return back to our camp and rest of the time enjoy the scenic beauty in the surrounding area.

Day 10: Trek to Damding Donkhan (4,860m/16,040ft).
Two hours drive will bring us to Darchen, a small settlement with few guesthouses this places can be quite busy with pilgrims during the auspicious time for the Kora (circumambulation). The holy walk leads west from the guest house compound high above the Barkha plain to a cairn and prayer flags, an excellent view of Mt. Kailash from this spot. The trail continues across the plain to Shershong. an hour past Shersong is a bridge leading to Chhuku Gompa high on the hill above, The west bank trail leads across the screed slopes to our overnight camp near Damding Donkhang that offers a good view of the west face of Mt. Kailash.

Day 11: Trek to Jarok Donkhang (5,200m/17,056).
This second day of the pilgrimage begins, crossing a log bridges as the north face of Kailash comes into view. As you reach the Gompa and guest house at Dirakphuk you are rewarded with a fine view of the north face of the holy Mt. Kailash, the Kora route climbs onto a moraine, eventually meeting the trail from the east bank. The trail from here climbs gradually to a meadow for the overnight camp.

Day 12: Trek to Zutul-Puk (4760m/15.613ft).
The trail today leads up past piles of clothing, the local Tibetan pilgrims leave an article of clothing or some of their possessions leaving their past life behind them, the Kora continues past thousands of small rock cairns beyond to a stone hut and across a boulder field and up to the high pass of Dolma la at approx.5, 470m /18,525ft. A big boulder represents the goddess Dolma (Tara) is festooned with prayer flags. This spot is the physical and spiritual high point of the pilgrimage Kora. The track from here descends to the plain below, a few hours walk brings you to the overnight camp at Zutul-Puk Gompa, Zuthul means cave. The place is named after a cave in which the poet, saint Milerepa stayed, meditating. His footprints still remain on the roof.

Day 13: Trek to Darchen (4,520m/14,826ft), drive to Lake Mansarovar.
The last day of our holy walk ‘Kora’ leads to a stream of Kailash, then contour up as the river descends towards the plain, the last leg of the trek make a dramatic exit from the river valley on to the plain the walk passes to a Mani walls decorated with carved yak skulls. A short walk from here brings you to the windswept little township of Darchen for the celebration after completing the most awaited highlight of the trip from Darchen a short drive will lead us to our overnight camp at Lake Mansarovar or near the base of Mayum-la.

Day 14: Drive to Paryang.
Today, after breakfast we’ll leave Lake Mansarovar today and drive to Paryang, a beautiful small Tibetan village, where we’ll camp overnight.

Day 15: Drive to Saga.
his morning we’ll leave Paryang and continue our journey which takes us back to Saga, where we’ll camp overnight.

Day 16: Drive to Paigutsho Lake (4850m/15,908ft).
Our oute leads from Saga town to the Ferry at Yarlung Tsangpo (Bhramaputra River) after 40 minutes drive from the camp at Saga. On reaching the river bank we board on the barge like boat with the vehicle to get across the other side of the river bank. From this point the drive takes on the valley and through the passes till we reach near the lake Paigutsho, overnight camp near the lake Paigutsho.

Day 17: Drive to Nyalam (3750m/12,300ft).
fter breakfast today, enjoy the scenic drive through the beautiful countryside of Tibet with excellent panoramic views (weather permitting) of Mt Cho-Yu (8,201m) and Mt Shishapagma (8,012m) from the Lalung La pass, at 5050m. We’ll spend tonight at our tented camp.

Day 18: Nyalam to Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft).
oday we’ll drive down the Tibetan Plateau first to the Chinese border town of Zhangmu and then to the Nepalese border town of Tatopani for the necessary border formalities before entering back into Nepal across the border at Kodari. After a drive through beautiful Nepalese countryside we’ll reach Kathmandu. Arriving in Kathmandu we’ll check into our hotel and the remainder of the evening is free to rest and relax.

Day 19: Leisure at Kathmandu.
his pleasant day you may have full day at leisure at your own or can be extends your extra trip with us on additional cost or time to explore the Thamel for last day shopping and evening company will meet you for the farewell dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 20: Departure from Kathmandu.
oday is free or last minute shopping for souvenirs or gift to your family, friends or relatives for you until your departure flight/drive or to commence any extra trips or activities you may have booked with us. If departing, you’ll be transferred to the International Airport for your departure flight to your onwards destination.
