Jomsom-Muktinath Trek - 15 Days

Jomsom family trek is one luxurious and famous trek in Nepal. In this trek you have a chance to see & explore the real typical village with its traditional lifestyle. The treks starting from fly to Jomsom and follow the alpine desert to the Muktinath, which is a famous pilgrimage center. You can enjoy the view of High mountains and chances to see the arid area to the below part of pine forest trails with nice traditional villages and through serene landscapes on a country side. Hot spring is the more attraction to the visitors and can enjoy the day at hot spring which is lies in the river bank of Kaligandaki.

During the trekking at higher place we will reaches at Muktinath from where can see wonderful panoramic views of the upper mustang as well as highest mountains range of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and far west to the Dolpo part. Throughout the trek you'll see close up views of Dhaulagiri and it's icefall, Annapurna and the Kaligandaki Valley also be able to take a relaxing natural hot springs at Tatopani and may have explore the local lifestyle, culture, climate and topography. You'll see some World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu valley which was listed by UNESCO. This may have good choice for anyone who are looking for introductory trek on a limited timescale as well as a good choice for family trek as well with beginners.

Deatil Itinerary for Jomsom-Muktinath Trek - 15 Days Trip

Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu(1,300m/4,264 ft).

Namaste & welcome to Himalayan Planet of Nepal. While you landed at the Tribhuvan intl. airport Himalayan Planet Adventures representative welcomes you with your name and assists to transfer in your hotel in Kathmandu. After time to get refreshed, bring you at head office and briefing about the program and evening we’ll pick up you for welcome dinner in one of the typical Nepalese restaurant with cultural program in the heart of Kathmandu and overnight at Hotel.

Day 02: A Guided sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley.

After your breakfast to head on for our guided day trip to world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley and visit the highlights of Kathmandu and the surrounding areas. We take you to visit the pilgrimage sites of Hindus temple Pashupatinath, one of the most important shrine of Shiva temples on the subcontinent which is place of thousand of devotees, Saddhus (holy men/Baba), and can be seen the cremating body most of the times in the holy riverbank of Bagmati. Hundreds of monkeys are giggling with you and take a time to exploring surrounding area and visit Bouddhanath stupa an another pilgrimage centre which is most popular and important place for Buddhist. You can explore with rounding prayer wheel and flattering colorful flag with melodious chanting noise. After visiting Bouddhanath stupa we’ll drive to the City of Devotees (Bhaktapur). This traditional and traffic free town is the third biggest town in the Valley. We’ll explore the medieval like squares, courtyards and temples of this vibrant town. After a stop for lunch at restaurant in Bhaktapur it’s time to drive back to Kathmandu and meet up with your travel consultant & fellows to prepare for next day and overnight at the hotel. Alternatively, the same group may have option to choose same 3 sightseeing place inside Kathmandu valley instead of these given place.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara valley (823m/2,700ft).

With a morning wake up guide will pick up you and transfer to the tourist bus station and drive (approximately seven hours with breaks) through the beautiful river view & Nepalese countryside to reach the Pokhara lakeside and transfer to the hotel and rest of the time explore the surrounding lakeside areas and overnight at hotel.

Day 04: Fly to Jomsom and trek to Kagbeni (2,858 m/10020ft).

After an early breakfast transfer to the airport for a morning flight to Jomsom, a super scenic flight of 20 minutes brings you at Jomsom, the district headquarter of Mustang. a large town and a headquarter of the Mustang region, it is also a major village on the Kaligandaki area linking the age old Trans-Himalayan Salt Trade route to Tibet. From Jomsom onwards it is very windy in the afternoon, From Jomsom trek continues on the gradual path on the Kali Gandaki river bed for about 3 hrs and finally reaching at Ekley-bhatti village. After good stop here an hour of easy walk reaches you to Kagbeni, which lies at the bank of two rivers. Kagbeni, an interesting wind swept villages situated on the main age old Trans himalayan salt trade route to Tibet via Upper Mustang area. On arrival, check in the Lodge with afternoon free for a stroll around the village.

Day 05: Trek to Muktinath (3,800/12,467ft).

Today, we start you our trek to Muktinath. Firstly with walk a arid area and steeply climb up to the ridge for an hour and further gentle uphill with a scenic view of Annapurna and Tukuche as well as to the upper mustang part. We cross the small villages and reach at Jharkot which place is a great place to encounters with local Thakali and with its traditional dresses. Here is a very old monastery made around 500 years before and can be seen the local culture as well. After here half an hour climb up to the hill will reaches at Muktinath which is a superb scenic Himalayan ranges and arid area. You will have chance to encounters with many brave trekkers who came through crossing the Throung la (5,416 m) from the Manang side. You can explore the areas and overnight at hotel.
